Also known as germania, germanium dioxide (GeO2) is primarily used in the production of germanium metal, which is used to manufacture optical products, such as wide-angle lenses and microscope objective lenses. Germanium dioxide is also used in the production of germane gas for semiconductor coatings and in some phosphors.
